Age Now! – Online Journal of Ageing
Age Now! is an online journal of ageing, published since 2017 by Karelia University of Applied Sciences. Age Now! provides information and experiences on ageing-related development work, practices and education. The journal opens up a new outlook on the various issues related to ageing, well-being of older people, and the ageing society. Work around ageing-related issues is characterised by multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral competence.
We warmly welcome expert articles, columns, news, literature reviews and different types of reports on e.g. study excursions and events, in our journal. Articles on the development work or good practices regarding ageing will also be of interest to our readers. We hope to have various types of perspectives on the contents of the journal, fresh views, and international spirit.
We request developers, project actors, teachers and researchers, students, people with expertise by experience in the field of ageing, and older people to join us as the authors of the journal.
The journal will be published twice a year, in March (submission of articles: 31st of January) and in October (submission of articles: 30th of September). We will be happy to publish articles in English too!
Guidelines for writing
Recommended article length is 10 000 characters (including spaces), for opinion pieces, commentaries, book reviews and travelogues 3 000-5 000 characters (including spaces).
Article title should be limited to 60 characters. Please establish the first paragraph of the article as a Lead Paragraph (3-5 sentences) containing the main points of the article. Use headings for clarity and to break up your text.
Pictures, figures and tables
Figures and tables must be clear. All figures and tables are inserted in the text. All pictures, figures and tables need to be provided as separate high quality files together with the script. The resolution of a picture is at least 100 dpi. The format of the pictures is either .jpg or .tiff. The file format .pdf is also acceptable for figures and tables.
The name of the photographer must always be mentioned. The Copyright Law must always be followed when publishing all types of pictures.
A consecutive number is given for every table, figure or picture and the number is used as a reference in the text as referring to the table, figure or picture.
References and list of sources
The use of references and the standard for listing sources primarily follows the thesis instructions used at Karelia UAS. Instructions for using references:

(Rope 2004, 24).
Burton and Mazerolle (2011, 28) described validity as “the degree that an
instrument ac-tually measures what it is designed or intended to measure”.

Submission and publishing
The article is submitted in Word or RTF format. All texts are proofread by the editors. The editors reserve the right to make editorial revisions, but will not make major changes without the author’s approval. Authors will be notified when the text is published in the online journal. The author holds the copyright to the article.
