The northernmost place to find wind on the east cost is Playa de la Laja just before the city of Las Palmas. As you drive north the motorway past the power plant, the road goes downhill around a little bay. On your right you have a parking place and right below it you'll find a narrow sandy beach

This spot very popular among surfers, but every now and then the wind lures the wavesailors here. I've sailed here couple of times, and once I had to swim back because the wind suddenly died. So follow the locals to avoid unvoluntary swimming expeditions.

There is a shallow reef right in front of the beach so pay attention while sailing. The waves can be big and the shorebreak heavy, so this spot may not suit to everyone. Observe the conditions before launching.

Playa de Jinamar

You can access the lonely beach of Jinamar by exiting the motorway direction Cortijo. Just take the gravel path along the coast to reach the big nearly deserted beach.

You can drive your car pretty close to the shoreline here, but I would not advise to leave the car alone while sailing. One can launch big gear here unless the waves block the access.  If this happens, Playa del Hombre may be the better choice for a formula sailor.

The closer you get to Las Palmas the riskier it gets to leave anything inside the car while sailing. This applies also to the extra windsurfing gear you may have with you. Pay attention, take the precautions.
